I am guilty of only scrolling through two pages and not wanting to look any further. I usually decide off recommendations and won't go. Plus I won't spend more than $5 on an app.

Apple announced that there are now 25,000 applications in the app store as of today. I'm taking a wait and see approach at the moment to see how the changes they're implementing in the app store affect the marketplace.

All of the apps I install I find through the web recommended by other users.

Perhaps you just have a marketing problem.

Thanks for you comment :)

I still believe that if you make a good application it will sell, the problem lies in the customer's inability to find the app in the first place. Most people won't scroll past the first two pages in either iTunes or on the phone looking for new applications.

The app store has an appetite for gimicky $.99 applications without depth or development time. I'm about to test this theory with a little app I'm going to release.

If I come up with an application in the future where the iPhone is the perfect platform for it, I'll code it up and release it. I want to put applications on the platforms suited to them, not find a cool platform and force something onto it.

You are making a mistake. If you develop a good app, you will be rewarded, no matter which platform. At the end of the day, the end-user will decide what is a good or bad application.
